HIS FAITHFULNESS!
“O Lord, You are my God; I will exalt You and praise Your Name, for in perfect faithfulness You have done marvelous things, things planned long ago.” Isaiah 25:1
My favorite part of this verse (which is great in its entirety) is “for in perfect faithfulness…” How awesome to know that our God is always faithful. His faithfulness is perfect! He never fails us or lets us down! And just think – He has done “marvelous things, things planned long ago.” It is the Lord’s faithfulness that plans our way and keeps us through the trials of life. “’For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.’” (Jer. 29:11). It is because of the Lord’s faithfulness that we are alive and prospering in Him. “Your love, O Lord, reaches to the heavens, Your faithfulness to the skies.” (Psa. 36:5). His faithfulness is unmatched by anything we know or can imagine! His faithfulness is Who He is!
The most marvelous thing His faithfulness has done, is give us Jesus! This was one of those “things planned long ago.” Our heavenly Father, knowing that we would sin, provided a plan for a Savior, because of His faithfulness to us. “Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness.” (Lam. 3:22-23). Instead of consuming us because of our sin, our Father provided a way out – Jesus. “Through love and faithfulness sin is atoned for.” (Prov. 16:6). Because His faithfulness reaches to the skies, (is unlimited) we can have forgiveness of our sins through Jesus Christ and can have marvelous things planned for us by Him. We can trust our Father because His nature is faithfulness!
“Then the Lord came down in the cloud and stood there with him and proclaimed His Name, the Lord. And He passed in front of Moses, proclaiming, ‘The Lord, the Lord, the compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness, maintaining love to thousands, and forgiving wickedness, rebellion and sin.’” (Exod. 34:6-7). Thank God we have a faithful and compassionate Father Who abounds in love and mercy!
“Praise the Lord, all you nations; extol Him, all you peoples. For great is His love towards us, and the faithfulness of the Lord endures forever. Praise the Lord.” Psalm 117
