WHO AM I?

“What is man that You are mindful of him, the son of man that You care for him?” Psalm 8:4

“O Lord, what is man that you care for him, the son of man that you think of him?” Psalm 144:3

“Who am I, that the Lord of all the earth, would care to know my name, would care to feel my hurt? Who am I that the Bright and Morning Star, would choose to light the way for my ever-wandering heart?” (Who Am I? © Mark Hall)

When I think of these scriptures and this song, I think that, in myself, I am nothing spectacular. There is nothing that I could do, or be, that would deserve the Father’s attention APART from His great love for me. It’s amazing that God loves us so much that He is ever mindful of us and is always caring for us, even when we were separated from Him by our sin. He loves us so much that He sent the Bright and Morning Star to die for us! “But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.: (Rom. 5:8). It’s amazing to me that He would take the disasters of my life and clean that up and put me on a new path of love and service to Him. Why was God mindful of me when I was completely unmindful of Him?

The Father’s love is so all-encompassing that He desires to fellowship with mankind. He created us for His pleasure (Rev. 4:11 KJV). He wants to spend time with us, and He wants to clean up our lives so that we can be like Him. It is the Father’s greatest joy when one of His precious creations turns to Him for forgiveness of sins and seeks a new life in Him. He loves us that much! “This is good and pleases God, our Savior, who wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.” (1Tim. 2:4). That is why He cares to know my name and cares to feel my hurt. He cares! “The Lord is good, a refuge in times of trouble. He cares for those who trust in Him.” (Nahum 1:7). The Father does it because He wants to. It is His pleasure to think of us and to care for us. “How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called the children of God!” (1John 3:1). And that is why He cares!
