HE IS FOREVER!

"The grass withers and the flowers fall but the Word of the Lord stands forever." Isaiah 40:8

God stands forever! He is the only thing that will stand after this age comes to an end. "But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything in it will be laid bare." (2Pet. 3:10). God's promise is that His Word will outlast even the destruction of everything as we know it. A new heaven and earth will be ushered in. "Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea." (Rev. 21:1). And above it all stands the Lord because He is eternal and His Word will never pass away. "Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will never pass away." (Matt. 24:35). That is Jesus speaking. His words will never pass away like the grass and the flowers and the earth and the sky and mankind. He is the Word! And He will stand forever!

Jesus is the incarnate Word of God. John says, "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us." (John 1:1, 14a). He is the Word of the Father, all the promises and the truth, wrapped up in a person who came to earth to be the payment for our sins. And He is the Word of the Lord that stands forever. "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever." (Hebrew. 13:8). He doesn't change because He is the embodiment of the truth. "We have seen His glory, the glory of the One and Only, Who came from the Father, full.of grace and truth." (John 1:14b). "Jesus answered, 'I am the Way and the Truth and the Life." (John 14:6). Jesus says He is the truth and since it is impossible for God to lie, (Heb. 6:18), we can believe, and hang onto, the promise of God that He will never fall, but will stand forever! Neither time nor trials nor anything else will change that truth. This, then, is our hope, the anchor of our faith. What God says (His Word) and the embodiment of the Word, Jesus Christ, will stand forever!
